The Miami Herald Finalizes Plans to Move to Doral
In May 2011 The Genting Group purchased the current 14-acre home of the Miami-Herald on Biscayne Bay for $236 million and the newspaper has finalized plans for its new headquarters. The Herald will remain in their current building until 2013, which is when they will move into the former site of the US Southern Command Headquarters in Doral at 3511 NW 91st Avenue.
The deal included the 158,265-square-foot building of the former Command Headquarters as well as an adjacent six-acre site, which will be used to construct a production facility. And although there is talk of the main building being retrofitted to meet the needs of the paper, the Miami Herald Media Company chose the Westpointe Business Park because of its mix of flexibility, functionality and access.
